What kinda onions are this - green bean casserole recipe?

i want to try and do this recipe but I only seen onions in a bag in the grocery store - never in a can?

this is what it says:

1 can or jar (approx. 15 ounces) small whole onions, drained

1. can I use the onions in a mesh bag?

2. can I use fresh green beans instead of canned?

here is the actual recipe. if you have a better one for green bean casserole, post it, okay?

Those would be cocktail onions, generally used in a martini or a gibson. Look for them at a party store, liquor store, etc. What kinda onions are this - green bean casserole recipe?
i would just chop up approx. 15 ounces of onions from the mesh bag....onions are onions...If you were to use Fresh green beens i think you would have to first steam them or blanch them and then cook them in the green been casserole...

for other variations for green been casserole got to Frenchs.com website and then go to the recipes and then click Casserole/One Dish...and there are a bunch of green bean casserole dishes to choose from.
