Need a easy green bean casserole recipe?

i never made it. i thought all you needed was green beans, cream of mushroom soup and frenchs dried onions on top. help?!!Need a easy green bean casserole recipe?
It's on the French's fried onion can

Can;t missNeed a easy green bean casserole recipe?
I use either 2 pounds of fresh green beans (well washed and boiled first) or 2 bags of frozen green beans (the thinner the better and if you can get organic that's even better..let them defrost to room temperature:)

1/2 cup milk

1 small can Campbell's cream of mushroom soup

1/2 cup french crunchy/fried onion (basically every chain supermarket has them -they're sold like peanuts, in some small containers).

Mix milk and cream of mushroom soup in a bowl (to make it all creamy).. Then add the green beans, most of the French onions, and maybe a little salt (but mushroom soup could already be salty).

Pour everything in a glass dish/casserole (THE KIND THAT CAN GO INTO THE OVEN!!!!!! NOT ANY OTHER KIND, CHECK THE LABEL WHEN YOU BUY THE DISH!!!!).

Let it bake in the oven (at about 350F) for abut 20-25 min. Check to see how it looks. When it's golden (not burned) it's done (you can sprinkle the rest of the French onions over the casserole).

:) my 2 cents..anyway, check the online recipes
You have it right. Just dump the drained green beans in a baking dish and pour the soup on top and mix (just make sure that you have the condensed version of the soup or it will be too runny). Bake in the oven at 350 degrees F until you see the sides bubbling. Then sprinkle the onions all over the top or just around the edges and bake for about 5 more minutes so that the onions get warmed and serve. If you want to make it a little more ';homemade'; then you can saute some diced onions, garlic and mushrooms and add into the mix as well.
heres one:put greenbeans in a pot or pan whatever it is your cooking it in then add some condensed cream of mushroom from cambells 1/3 of the cup full of water add to the greenbeans and cream of mushroom mix then add about 1/2 cup or milk mix then add some french's fried onions about 1/2 cup then even out the mixture then top with french's fried onions and put in oven for 15-20 minutes on 350 degrees.

enjoy
Two cans cut green beans, drained

Mix with 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup, 1 cup french fried onions, and 1/2 cup milk

Add a dash of tabasco to taste (optional)

Bake at 350 for 30 minutes, then top with another 1/2 cup of onions, and bake, uncovered for 10 minutes until golden brown.
google for any recipe you may need. you will be handed a wide selection. opt for fresh foods rather than canned or frozen. usually there is a microwave alternative which will be the time-saver.
you need milk too and ground pepper. the recipe is on the back of the frenchs onions and possibly on the back of the cream of mushroom can. Good Luck! (mmmm... i LOVE green bean casserole!)
try foodnetwork.com or cambells.com. It has all those ingredients and soy sauce and something else i think but your best bet is the campbells website

Forgot to mention it was a weight watchers soup!Mom made a soup ,early 70's, that had bean sprouts green beans tomatoes, very yummy,I cant find recipe?
I've been involved with WW since the late 80s %26amp; cannot think of a soup that had been sprouts. I love the WW vegetable soup, and perhaps your mother used bean sprouts in place of/or along with, the cabbage. I tweek mine %26amp; add 1/8 tsp of cayenne pepper to give it some zing.

WEIGHT WATCHERS ZERO POINTS GARDEN VEGETABLE SOUP

6 cups broth (vegetable, beef, or chicken - just make sure it's light or low sodium)

Cooking spray

2 carrots, peeled and diced

1 large onion, diced

4 teaspoons garlic (from a jar or substitute four cloves minced garlic)

1/2 cabbage, chopped (or use a bag of slaw, the biggest chunks you can find vs the fine, don't skip the cabbage for it somehow makes the soup)

1/2 pound frozen green beans

2 tablespoons tomato paste

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1 large zucchini, diced

Bring the broth to a boil in the microwave. (This is a time-saving tip that can be skipped if there's no hurry.)

Spray a Dutch oven with cooking spray and heat on MEDIUM HIGH. Add the carrots, onion and garlic and cook for about 5 minutes. Add all the remaining ingredients EXCEPT the zucchini and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce the heat to MEDIUM and simmer for about 15 minutes or until the beans are tender. Add the zucchini and cook until the zucchini are tender. Serve and enjoy!Mom made a soup ,early 70's, that had bean sprouts green beans tomatoes, very yummy,I cant find recipe?
I do not like the soup posted. Hope you find the other one. Report Abuse

I have never seen this but have gone to WW before and have made many of their recipes. You could join a Yahoo Group. They give out many WW recipes. I belong to a few of the groups and get much info.

Hope someone can find it because I would like to have it,

I need a recipe for an asian style garlic green bean dish. Please see details.?

I'm usually very good at duplicating things I eat in restaurants, but this one has me stumped and the owners won't share their secrets! It is made with fresh green beans, garlic, oil and..... And there's the problem. There is a 'base note' I can't identify. Is anyone aware of a savory asian green bean recipe that is similar to this? There is no ginger, sesame oil or chiles in it that I can tell, either. So what the mystery ingredient may be is just that - a mystery!

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!I need a recipe for an asian style garlic green bean dish. Please see details.?
if its kinda sweet, try a spoonful of plum sauce or teriyakiI need a recipe for an asian style garlic green bean dish. Please see details.?
try fish sauce or oyster sauce or hoisin sauce. maybe anisette or licorice root.
This sounds very similar to a broccoli dish at my favorite chinese restaurant and the chef there shared his secret with me. So try using olive oil in which you can stir fry minced garlic, and add a little(very little) corn starch to the base.

    I like this updated version from Food %26amp; Wine magazine. The classic recipe can be found at frenchs.com

    Ingredients

    1 pound shallots, thinly sliced

    1/3 cup plus 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

    Vegetable oil, for frying

    Salt

    2 1/2 pounds green beans

    2 tablespoons unsalted butter

    1 medium onion, thinly sliced

    1/2 teaspoon paprika

    Pinch of cayenne pepper

    Freshly ground pepper

    1 pound cremini mushrooms, stems discarded, caps thinly sliced

    2 cups chicken stock

    1/2 cup cr猫me fra卯che

    2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

    Method

    On a large rimmed baking sheet, toss the shallots with 1/3 cup of the flour; shake off any excess flour. In a large, deep skillet, heat 1 inch of oil until shimmering. Add the shallots in 2 batches and fry over moderate heat until very crisp, about 3 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer to paper towels, then sprinkle with salt.

    In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the beans until just tender, about 5 minutes. Drain and refresh under cold running water; drain and pat dry.

    Melt the butter in a large, enameled cast-iron casserole. Add the onion and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the paprika, cayenne and a large pinch of pepper; cook for 1 minute, stirring. Add the mushrooms, cover and cook over moderate heat until softened, about 5 minutes. Uncover and cook, stirring, until browned, about 5 minutes longer. Stir in the remaining 3 tablespoons of flour and gradually stir in the stock until smooth.

    Simmer the mushroom sauce over low heat, stirring, until thickened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the cr猫me fra卯che, lemon juice and beans. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the beans are heated through, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper and transfer to a large glass or ceramic baking dish.

    Preheat the oven to 400掳. Cover the casserole with foil and bake until bubbling, about 20 minutes. Uncover, scatter the shallots on top and serve.

    Make Ahead

    The assembled casserole can be refrigerated overnight. Let return to room temperature before baking. The fried shallots can be kept overnight in an airtight container. Recrisp in a 350掳 oven and let cool.

    8 quarts pickling cucumbers

    2 cups pickling salt

    1 gallon water

    1 gallon hot water

    2 tablespoons alum

    1 gallon water

    12 cups sugar

    6 cups vinegar

    3 tablespoons pickling spices

    green food coloring

    yellow food coloring

    cinnamon sticks

    cloves, whole

    You will need more brine to cover the cukes initially than you will need syrup later as there is a lot of shrinkage. Therefore I don't guarantee the above quantities will all work out exactly but each solution is easy to adjust to what you need. Start with what you think will cover the cucumbers and just make a little more if you need it.

    The use of alum is no longer recommended in home canning - I have noticed that some of the big pickle companies still use it and so do I in these pickles. It makes them crisp. I have made them without and they were not nearly as good.

    Day# 1.

    Prepare the salt/water brine by heating together until salt dissolves. It will cool sufficiently while you prepare the cucumbers.

    Wash the cucumbers in cold water. If they are less than 1 1/2'; inches in diameter slice them in 3/8'; - 1/2'; slices. Larger ones may be halved or quartered and the seeds scooped out then cut into pickle-sized chunks.

    Put the cucumbers in a container (a large crock is preferred but hard to come by anymore - a plastic pail works fine). Do not use metal.

    Pour the salt/water brine over the cucumbers to cover. Place a plate over the cucumbers to submerge them. Put a weight on it (plastic vinegar bottle perhaps?). Cover with a cloth. Let stand 7 days.

    Day# 7.

    Your pickles might not look very nice after 7 days but they are okay. Drain the brine off (dump in a clean sink), rinse the pickles and pail, put cucumbers back in and cover with plain hot water. Let stand till next day, (day# 8) drain again, and cover with alum/water solution (again heated to dissolve alum). Let stand one day, (day# 9) then drain and return to pail.

    Day# 10.

    Prepare syrup by combining sugar and vinegar in a large (not aluminum) pot. Tie the pickling spice in a piece of cheesecloth and put in pot. Add a couple of drops of green food coloring and several of yellow. Bring to boil, simmer 10 minutes. Pour over cucumbers, submerge the spice bag in the pail.

    Every day, for 3 days, (days 11-12-13) drain the syrup into a pot, reheat and pour back over the pickles. Each day check the color, correcting it with yellow food coloring - it rarely needs anymore green.

    On day #14 put the pickles in sterilized jars, adding a piece of cinnamon stick and a few whole cloves to each jar. Heat brine, (discard spice bag)and pour in jars to cover pickles, leaving a little head space. Seal with 2 piece lids.

    Modern canning instructions would now call for these to be processed in a water bath for 10 minutes. I do not. If the odd jar doesn't seal I refrigerate it and use it first. In a cool dark place these pickles will keep a long time

    5 qt Fresh; snapped green beans

    1 c Cider vinegar

    1 c Sugar

    5 ts Salt

    Bring all ingredients to a boil in large kettle. Boil 30 minutes. Pack in hot, sterilized jars with liquid to cover beans. Seal. When ready to serve, drain beans well %26amp; rinse with cold water. (These beans never lose their crispiness when recooked.

    Best Ever Green Bean Casserole Recipe courtesy Alton Brown, 2007

    For the topping:

    2 medium onions, thinly sliced

    1/4 cup all-purpose flour

    2 tablespoons panko bread crumbs

    1 teaspoon kosher salt

    Nonstick cooking spray

    For beans and sauce:

    2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon kosher salt, divided

    1 pound fresh green beans, rinsed, trimmed and halved

    2 tablespoons unsalted butter

    12 ounces mushrooms, trimmed and cut into 1/2-inch pieces

    1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

    2 cloves garlic, minced

    1/4 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg

    2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

    1 cup chicken broth

    1 cup half-and-half

    Preheat the oven to 475 degrees F.

    Combine the onions, flour, panko and salt in a large mixing bowl and toss to combine. Coat a sheet pan with nonstick cooking spray and evenly spread the onions on the pan. Place the pan on the middle rack of the oven and bake until golden brown, approximately 30 minutes. Toss the onions 2 to 3 times during cooking. Once done, remove from the oven and set aside until ready to use. Turn the oven down to 400 degrees F.

    While the onions are cooking, prepare the beans. Bring a gallon of water and 2 tablespoons of salt to a boil in an 8-quart saucepan. Add the beans and blanch for 5 minutes. Drain in a colander and immediately plunge the beans into a large bowl of ice water to stop the cooking. Drain and set aside.

    Melt the butter in a 12-inch cast iron skillet set over medium-high heat. Add the mushrooms, 1 teaspoon salt and pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms begin to give up some of their liquid, approximately 4 to 5 minutes. Add the garlic and nutmeg and continue to cook for another 1 to 2 minutes. Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir to combine. Cook for 1 minute. Add the broth and simmer for 1 minute. Decrease the heat to medium-low and add the half-and-half. Cook until the mixture thickens, stirring occasionally, approximately 6 to 8 minutes.

    Remove from the heat and stir in 1/4 of the onions and all of the green beans. Top with the remaining onions. Place into the oven and bake until bubbly, approximately 15 minutes. Remove and serve immediately.May I please have a recipe for homemade green-bean casserole. Thank you so much.?

    This is my recipe for a green bean casserole. My family loves it. 2 cans French Style Green Beans ( drain one of them, reserve the juice from the other can). 2 cans of Cream of mushroom soup. 3 slices of bacon diced. 1 Tbsp. minced garlic. 1 white onion small, diced, and 1 can of fried onion strips.

    Take diced raw bacon and place in medium sauce pan, cook till color of red bricks, remove 3/4 of grease. Add onion diced and cook until translucent. Add garlic and cook over medium heat for 30 seconds. Add green beans and cook for about 20 minutes on medium heat stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. In a large stainless steel mixing bowl Add green bean mixture, and both cans of Cream of Mushroom soup. Add one at a time until you get the consistency that you like. Mix well and place in a baking dish, I use disposable aluminum, and cover. Place into oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove cover and add one can of fried onion strips on top and place back in the oven for about 10 minutes uncovered. This is an optional addition. I think that it adds a nice crunch to the recipe.

    Hope that it helps, and Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

    For fresh broccoli, cut the bottom third of the stems and discard. Cut the tops from the stems to make the head more manageable. Heat a large skillet (that has a lid or use a baking sheet to cover) over medium heat, add 2 t. oil or butter, then toss in some finely chopped onion and garlic and stir a moment. Add broccoli and stir, getting some of the oil/onion/garlic on a much as you can of the veg. Keep the broccoli moving for about a minute. Add 1/4 cup chicken stock (or veg stock), 1-2 T soy sauce, and any fav oriental flavoring (oyster sauce, chili sauce, black bean sauce, etc) to taste. Cover and reduce heat to medium low. Let cook/steam for about 7-10 minutes. Really good served with rice.

    while adding the mushroom soup, don't forget the Worcestershire sauce (about a tbsp) and the pepper. Add a pinch of salt if you like. The cheese should definitely be added at the end of the cooking process and only enough to melt it. Leave the beer batter set, covered for a few hours before using.

    Dip your prepared green beans into the beer batter to coat them evenly on all sides. Make sure they are completely dried after washing or the batter will slide off.

    Fry coated green beans in about 1 inch of oil, or shortening, until golden brown. You鈥檒l need to watch them closely. It should take about 5 to 7 minutes. If you are using an electric skillet, the temperature should be set at 365 degrees Fahrenheit.

    Using a slotted spoon, carefully remove your fried green beans from the hot oil and drain them on a paper towel lined serving dish.

    Serve while still warm.

    Do you have a simple low-calorie green bean recipe you can share?

    The so-called low calorie recipes I've been finding on the internet are not low-calorie at all, or they require too many ingredients. I'm looking for 100 calories or less per serving. I'm serving other dishes that will be considerably higher in calories. Trying to keep the meal at 500 calories or less and I don't want my vegetables to be as high in calories as the entree.

    1) Must not have any added fat (butter or margarine, bacon, oils) Exception is olive oil.

    2) Must not have any sugar. I can however, use Stevia or Splenda.

    3) Must require only simple everyday ingredients. I have the basics like garlic, onion, tomatoes, and other herbs and spices.Do you have a simple low-calorie green bean recipe you can share?
    I make one using fresh green beans, garlic, mushrooms and olive oil.

    I saute the mushrooms in olive oil till soft, boil the green beans till tender and them and the garlic to the mushrooms and cook down a little more.Do you have a simple low-calorie green bean recipe you can share?
    INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)

    * 1 pound frozen green beans, French-cut (or cooked fresh green beans)

    * 1/2 cup fat-free cottage cheese

    * 1/2 cup chevre (soft goat cheese) with garlic and herbs

    * 1/2 cup toasted slivered almonds

    * 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

    * Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cook frozen beans per package directions; drain.

    2. In a blender, mix cottage cheese and chevre. Combine beans, cheese mixture and almonds; turn into a 2-quart casserole. Top with Parmesan and pepper.

    3. Bake 20 minutes, then brown under broiler 3 minutes.
    Mix together a little olive oil, white wine/white wine vinegar, and some lemon juice (I use equal amounts of each, though I don't think dropping the olive oil would hurt the recipe) with a couple of garlic cloves (chopped), onion powder, rosemary and salt/pepper to taste. Toss the green beans in the dressing (mushrooms too if you like) and bake at 400F for about 15 minutes until they're warm.
    Try this super easy recipe

    Clean and trim the green beans. Put them on a sheet pan and drizzle with a bit of olive oil and sprinkle with kosher salt.

    Bake at 375 until slightly charred and roasted 6 to 8 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle with balsamic vinegar (optional).

    Serve roasted green beans hot, warm or at room temperature. Leftovers are great cold in a salad or on their own
    Steam the green beans.

    Make a simple dressing of:

    2 teaspoon Rice Wine Vinegar

    1 tablespoon sesame seeds

    1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil

    few drops red pepper sauce.

    Toss with beans. Low Cal, Low fat.
    Plain green beans, lightly steamed, and served with ';I can't believe it's butter'; purple tub butter substitute, which is 5 calories a serving, would do the trick.

    Looking for a good Thanksgiving green bean recipe that uses fried onions and bacon?
    When I make fresh green beans at home, I usually saute up a chopped onion and chopped platter bacon, then add a little chicken broth and the beans, cover and cook until crisp tender. Season with salt and pepper and serve. My mom made canned green beans this way when i was a kid, and I've loved it ever since! You can also saute one clove garlic, minced, and sliced mushrooms with the bacon and onion and then add the beans, chicken broth, heavy cream or cream of mushroom soup to the mix for a more festive dish.

    you can use both, cook your bacon ahead of time and crumble,set aside. go ahead and bake your casserole and prior to removing top with bacon and maybe shredded cheddar and cook 5-7 mins, becareful not to burn bacon,turn heat down, if necessary.

    I recently went to a German Restaurant and they served a cold Green bean dish,,, I know it had vinager and sugar and maybe dill,,,, in it,,, does anyone know the recipe or even a similar one,, My mother in law is 100% German, but she is actually visiting relatives in Germany right now, so I cant get a hold of her or anyone in the family over there. And I need to know by tomorrow, any recipes similar would be great... thank you!!Cold green bean recipe from German restaurant?
    That would be most likely a green bean salad. I usually serve a warm version of it but you can also let it cool down.

    Warm Green Bean Salad:

    1 lb fresh green or wax beans

    5 slices of bacon

    1 onion, finely chopped

    1 tablespoon sugar or any kind of sweetener

    1/4 cup cider vinegar

    salt and pepper to taste

    Cook fresh beans in a little salted water until tender. Drain beans; reserve about 3/4 cup of the cooking liquid. Cut up bacon and saut茅 with onion until bacon is cooked and onion has lightly browned.Add bean liquid and cook until liquid has reduced to 1/4 cup. Add next 4 ingredients and the cooked beans. Heat through and season with salt and pepper to taste.

    I also add a little bit of green bean seasoning to it which contains of dill, tarragon,celery,savory and lovage.

    I hope this recipe will help you a little bit at least :)Cold green bean recipe from German restaurant?
    All I could find was this and you can always leave the potatoes out:

    :

    Dilled Green Beans %26amp; New Potatoes

    1/2 lb small new potatoes, quartered

    1/2 lb fresh green beans, trimmed, broken into 2'; pieces

    1/4 cup nonfat sour cream

    2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill weed

    1/8 teaspoon salt

    dash pepper

    1/2 teaspoon olive oil

    1 clove garlic, minced

    In medium saucepan, bring about 2 cups water to a boil. Add potatoes and green beans; return to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 9-11 minutes or until beans are crisp-tender. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine all remaining ingredients; blend well. Drain vegetables; rinse with cold water to cool slightly. Place in serving bowl. Add sour cream mixture, toss to coat. Serve immediately or refrigerate until serving time.

    Makes 8 (1/2 cup) servings.
    Well, you're logged on to the Internet. What better place to find it quickly? I live in Germany, and I've never heard of it.
    Try the warm green bean dish. I would add a little olive oil. and chill

    look on the lable of a can of french fried onions
    Del Monte green beens, cream of mushroom soup, onion bits (comes in a can, can't remember the brand). Dump the green beans and mushroom soup in a casserole dish and stir together. Sprinkle the onion on top and bake 350 til bubbly.
    Mix green beans (I usually use one bag frozen - reg. size not family size) with a mixture I make of 1 can mushroom soup (condensed) with one soup can 1/2 full of milk %26lt;mix together before adding to beans%26gt;. I then add a bit of minced onion %26amp; a bit of roasted garlic) (both optional) (BUT ADD TO SOUP MIXTURE BEFORE PUTTING BEANS IN BAKING DISH IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE THEM) and put it in a 8 X 8 baking dish. I then cover it with the cheddar french fried onions (from a can at your local grocer) and bake on 350 for about 25 minutes until the edges all start to bubble.

    The regular recipe for green bean salad doesn't have a little kick like mine dones due to adding the garlic and onion adn the cheddar friend onions instead of the regular. Depends on if you like lots of flavor in your food or you stick to the blank side of things. Good luck! :)

    Okay, maybe they use their steak seasoning, I'm not sure. I know it's not the recipe you asked for, but this is their steak seasoning recipe. Maybe they just put a little bit of the cola in there when they cook it. That would account for the sweetness. Lol, I have recipes for a lot of the things they make, but I'm not sure about the green beans. My boyfriend used to work there, so I'll ask him tommorrow after he gets home from work, I'll come back if he knows :D

    What are some good, fresh, simple recipes for trimmed green beans?

    ~~~~~~FRESH GREEN BEANS IN GARLIC SAUCE
    1 1/2 lbs. green beans
    4 oz. fresh Shitake mushrooms (optional)
    1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
    1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
    1 tablespoon butter
    1/4 cup fresh Italian parsley, chopped
    pinch of fresh basil and oregano, minced
    pinch of red pepper flakes
    1/2 cup plain bread crumbs (optional)
    8 cloves garlic, peeled
    In a saucepan, bring 5 cups water to a boil with 1 tablespoon salt. Add fresh green beans (strings and ends removed). Boil beans for 4-5 minutes, until tender but not overcooked. When tender, shock beans in a bowl of ice water to prevent overcooking and retain bright green color. Remove after 30 seconds and let drain in colander.
    In a large heavy bottom skillet, heat olive oil with cloves of garlic and mushrooms. Saut茅 until garlic becomes tan, but not brown. Mash garlic into oil with the tines of a fork. Add cooled beans, parsley, butter and remaining ingredients. Toss with cheese and bread crumbs (optional) and serve when butter has melted.
    Cook's Note: Garlic cloves may be removed before serving, or left in for added flavor, as desired. Garlic can be pureed or pressed through a sieve, but this will eliminate the ';roasted'; garlic flavor which characterizes this dish. May be served either warm or cold (if served cold, omit butter).
    Variations: A strip of lean bacon or Pancetta may be saut茅ed in olive oil before adding garlic, then crumbled in. For a piquant flavor, the beans may be served cold, as a salad, and dressed with a few drops of freshly squeezed lemon or balsamic vinegar.
    ~GREEN BEANS IN RED PEPPER BUTTER
