That would be most likely a green bean salad. I usually serve a warm version of it but you can also let it cool down.

Warm Green Bean Salad:

1 lb fresh green or wax beans

5 slices of bacon

1 onion, finely chopped

1 tablespoon sugar or any kind of sweetener

1/4 cup cider vinegar

salt and pepper to taste

Cook fresh beans in a little salted water until tender. Drain beans; reserve about 3/4 cup of the cooking liquid. Cut up bacon and saut茅 with onion until bacon is cooked and onion has lightly browned.Add bean liquid and cook until liquid has reduced to 1/4 cup. Add next 4 ingredients and the cooked beans. Heat through and season with salt and pepper to taste.

I also add a little bit of green bean seasoning to it which contains of dill, tarragon, celery, savory and lovage.

I hope this recipe will help you a little bit at least :)Cold green bean recipe from German restaurant?
All I could find was this and you can always leave the potatoes out:

:

Dilled Green Beans %26amp; New Potatoes

1/2 lb small new potatoes, quartered

1/2 lb fresh green beans, trimmed, broken into 2'; pieces

1/4 cup nonfat sour cream

2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill weed

1/8 teaspoon salt

dash pepper

1/2 teaspoon olive oil

1 clove garlic, minced

In medium saucepan, bring about 2 cups water to a boil. Add potatoes and green beans; return to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 9-11 minutes or until beans are crisp-tender. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine all remaining ingredients; blend well. Drain vegetables; rinse with cold water to cool slightly. Place in serving bowl. Add sour cream mixture, toss to coat. Serve immediately or refrigerate until serving time.

Makes 8 (1/2 cup) servings.
Well, you're logged on to the Internet. What better place to find it quickly? I live in Germany, and I've never heard of it.
