Also, can you prepare it ahead of time and freeze?Do you have a recipe for green beans or green bean casserole?
Yummy- I've got a good one for you!
You'll need 2 cans of green beans- I like the ';cut green beans'; a can of cream of mushroom or celery soup- whichever, onions, garlic, bacon, and french fried onions.
Cook up your bacon- you'll need about 6 slices or so. Yeah- who really can resist bacon- make the whole package to munch on! When the bacon is done remove it to paper towels and add the onions and garlic (chop them up fine) to the pan with th bacon fat, but don't let them get too brown. Keep the heat just under medium. (If you like mushrooms now is the time to add some sliced criminis or regular button shrooms too.)
Ok- so you've got some bacon and some nice soft onions, garlic and maybe shrooms slathered in bacon fat. Did anyone call for a heart attack? Really you can lighten this up a lot by using olive oil instead of the bacon fat and getting bacon bits from the store.
Back to the recipe. Mix the sauted veggies, the cream soup, the drained grean beans, about 2 slices of the crumbled bacon and maybe 2 handfulls of the french fried onions together and pour into a casserole dish. If you're going to freeze this, cover with foil and freeze for later. If not or after you thaw it back out, pour the remaining french fried onions on top and crumble the remaining bacon over that. Bake at 350 for about 30 min or so- until it's heated through and the top gets crispy and browned.
YUM!Do you have a recipe for green beans or green bean casserole?
Get a can of cream of mushroom soup the recipe should be on the back of it .
Do this as early in the day as you can.....minimum 6 hours cook time.
3-4 cans sliced green beans (you can use no salt added kind), drained
2 ham hocks
1 stick of butter
5-6 slices salt pork
Put meats on bottom of pan, put butter in, then add green beans and cover with water. Bring to a boil and then let it simmer on low all day with no lid. Watch for the bones to fall off the hamhocks and remove them....you can remove the meat as well at the end, but some like to eat it. Just cook this all day long and add water if you need to during the day.....everytime you add more water, throw in a tablespoon of butter.
1 Bag frozen green Beans
1 Can Cream of mushroom soup
1 Can french Fried Onoins
Mix and bake @ 350 till browned.
on the back of French's canned fried onions is a good green bean casserole dish. you might have to increase the amounts depending on the number of people you are cooking for.
2ND answer is correct but i mix a little shredded cheese with my onion for the top!!
if you are a working person and don't have a lot of time to cook a great, quick recipe that i like is to take green beans, put them in a casserole dish, sprinkle Greek or Italian seasoning on them add a few chopped onions and a pat or two of real butter, cover w/ plastic wrap or lid and microwave for approx. 8 mins...
yes add green beans to a damn pan
